Jesus Marvelled
There are two occasions in Scripture where Jesus Marvelled; once here in our text during the healing of the centurion's servant, and also in Mark 6:6 when Christ was rejected by His own countrymen.
This account in our text where Jesus marvelled was a result of the centurion's "great faith". This centurion's faith stopped Jesus in His tracks, so to speak. The Bible says that Jesus turned Himself about and commented to His followers that He had not found any of God's people, the Jews, to have "so great faith" as this man. What a terrible testimony this was of God's people.
The second account where Jesus marvelled is mark 6:6, where the Bible says, "And he marvelled because of their unbelief. We need to search our life for unbelief and ask the Lord to help us to have great faith. In Mark 9:23, Jesus said to the father of the son who had the dumb spirit, "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth". The Lord will help us respond as the father did with his eyes full of tears in verse 24, where the father said, 'Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief".
Christian, if these tow things, great faith and unbelief, caused the Lord to marvel, be sure He has marvelled at you. The question is which has manifested itself in your life? As God has given us so many passages of Scripture regarding our faith, be sure He will notice your faith. WHen I stand before God, I not only want Him to say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," but I desrie that He marvel at my "great faith" as He did this centurion's.
